Sherry was a patient and thoughtful instructor. She took the time to explain color theory before we got into painting. A win-win!

I enjoyed the beginners class. Especially learning all the techniques and seeing the various effect each can have within a picture. Marie is a good instructor! Her instructions are clear and then she demonstrated. If I was struggling she recognized and came right to my side to show me to accomplish that step. She incorporated shadows and light in our still life exercise. I learned how to mix colors to achieve the shade I was looking for. Overall I learned a lot and had fun in the process

I am a retired Ford Motor Co Zone Sales Manager. I have loved cars since I was very small. About two or three years ago I set out to paint a watercolor painting of cars that were part of my family in some way or the other. The middle car, a 1954 Chevrolet Bel-Air 4 door was a drawing of my first car which I bought used in 1960. All of the others belonged either to me or a family member except the Red and white 1958 Pontiac Bonneville and the upper right aqua and white 1956 Chevrolet Bel-Air Conv

I'm a novice watercolorist and am learning about color mixing using only red, yellow, and blue, so I chose this reference photo in order to experiment with mixing only red, yellow, and blue to get the greens, blacks, and browns. I also experimented with using the white in a watercolor set to help mute the colors in the water around the frog. If I hadn't needed the set for a recent beginner watercolor class, it wouldn't have occurred to me to use white watercolor. I downloaded the referen

I almost threw this away. Sometimes I have a hard time "pushing through" a painting that I am doing. I'm tempted to stop and say "this is not good, I won't finish it, it's awful". I painted the sky background a year ago and the painting just sat in a corner. One day I decided to just "play" with this piece of paper and I loved what happened! Quite often I find that I need to let my artwork just cook in a corner. Every once in a while I surprise myself!

After I had joint replacement surgery on my left thumb, my dominant hand, I still wanted to paint. I thought that I'd just play with color using my right hand to wield the brush. To my amazement, I painted with more spontaneity and with a looseness I've been trying to achieve before. Maybe I'm ambidextrous and have only just discovered it (I'm 76).
